December Blog Hop Christmas Thank You Card

Welcome.  I am Nancy and it is time for the December Blog Hop!  You should be coming to my blog from Bonnie.   Wasn't her card just beautiful. 

I wanted to share a Thank You card that I made ahead of time to give around Christmas.  Thank You cards are not only for gifts received by others, but people who are special to you that you want to thank again around Christmas time. 


 I used the gorgeous Blue Multi Ovals on White Grosgrain ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and added 3mm size pearls.  Behind the ribbon is the Sue Wilson-Scandinavian border.  I think the die and ribbon goes well together on this card.  I used a Sue Wilson-Snowflake Lattice embossing folder for the blue metallic paper.

Behind the poinsettia, I added the white netting on the back and used the Zutter Bow-It-All V.2 to make the bow.  I find myself using the white netting often on my cards and projects since it gives a delicate appearance.  I added sparkling snowflake glitter on the Sue Wilson-Delicate Fern die that was cut with vellum.  I make my own angel pins for my cards to stick behind the bows and flowers.

Vintage Thank You Card

Hello from Nancy, Design Team Member from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  This year, I plan to get my Christmas Thank You cards made before Christmas and very excited to show you a lovely ribbon that you will want for your cards.  Really Reasonable Ribbon has gorgeous Christmas ribbons and I love their plaid ribbons that I use often for my country or vintage themes. 

I really fell in love with the Plaid Ribbon Ivory/Rust/Gold and have been using it for my vintage Christmas cards this year like the card above.  The ribbon has the rich rust and ivory colors with gold running through it.  This ribbon brings out the gold, ivory and rust in my colors in my card.  Of course, I couldn't have made this bow without my Zutter Bow-It-All V2.0 .

Fish Gear Christmas Wreath

 I needed a Christmas card for my son and since he fishes all the time, the Cheery Lynn Design Fishing Set was perfect for this wreath.  I punched out enough Martha Stewart pine branches until the punch broke.  I colored some of the pine branches so that the wreath has some other colors than green to stand out more.  I glued the pine branches on a Cheery Lynn English doily and used a circle die to cut out the middle of the doily for the rainbow trout which is in this same fishing set besides the lures, fishing pole, worm and bobber.  I used the Cheery Lynn Merry Christmas and cut off the snowflakes since it wouldn't go with this card. 

 I colored the fish and lures with my Copic markers and then added different colored glitters from Sparkle n Sprinkle and afterwards, clear embossing powder over the glitter to make each one stand out more on the wreath.  Also, I added some Stampendous Deep Impression Embossing Powder to make the wreath look like it had snow on it. 

I added the bobber to the bow made with gorgeous Sheer Stitch/Satin Ombre Red ribbon made from my bow maker, the Zutter Bow-It-All V2 from Really Reasonable Ribbon.   I highly recommend buying your ribbon from this fantastic company because the customer service is wonderful and the ribbon, lace and products are just beautiful.

Gift Box with Blue Ribbon

I love making these gift boxes out of a Sizzix Pro die and this December Club Month has a gorgeous assortment of ribbons for the finishing touch to any project, card or gift boxes.  I used the beautiful Cindy White Crochet Lace, Checkerboard Satin Capri Blue and Blue Multi Oval on White Grosgrain Ribbon on this gift box.  Of course, I couldn't have made this bow without my Zutter Bow-It-All V2.0 .  If you don't have this bow maker, it is a "must have" for most of us.

I made my own angel corsage pins next to the flower.  I wanted the delicate frosty look and used crystal glitter on vellum on the cut out dies of Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Designs-Finishing Touches-Delicate Fronds and Sue Wilson-Maidenhair Ferns.  The poinsettia was made using silver glitter paper for the Spellbinder poinsettia die combined with the  delicate  Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Designs-Mosiac Poinsettia which was made with vellum paper and crystal glitter to give it a frosty and shimmery look.  The border on the box is from Cherry Lynn Designs called Francesca.  But the finishing touch to almost all cards is that beautiful ribbon, trim or bow to give your project that special look.

Happy Birthday to a Special Friend

It is already the first Wednesday of December and time for fun with the Scrapyland Challenge #31-Anything Goes using a brand of die that Scrapyland which is over 40 brands to choose from.

I just purchase last month some beautiful dies from Scrapyland.com and excited to show you these dies cut for this card and inspire you to buy if you don't have them already for making your gorgeous cards.  Also, Scrapyland.com sells over 40 named-brand dies that are absolutely gorgeous.

I have a special friend over the years and we get together weekly to make cards.  She cut out a few of the gorgeous dies from the Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Expression Collection-Happy Birthday sentiment.  Later, she brought over a birthday card for her aunt that had her age on it next to Happy on this sentiment.   I thought it was so clever so I did this on her birthday card to personalize it.

Scrapyland.com sells dies such as the beautiful Creative Expression-Sue Wilson.   The stunning Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Gemini Collection-Orion comes in a set of 3 dies.  Two dies will cut the top or bottom of the main die which makes this set very versatile to use on a card.



The other die cuts around the ribbon are the  Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Finishing Touches-Delicate Fronds and the Cherry Lynn Design Victorian Romance Flourish as well as the beautiful butterfly from Cherry Lynn Design-Tiny Things with Wings.  

The gorgeous lavender and white ribbons and flower were from the on-line store of Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Really Reasonable Ribbon offers variety of ribbons in many colors that would look wonderful on any card.

I have so much fun sharing my cards with you as well as seeing the beautiful cards that the talented designers and people post on these challenges.  It inspires me and I hope my cards are inspiring you as well.

Christmas Carol

 Welcome back.  Hi, I am Nancy and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

 I am back making more Christmas cards and had this gorgeous ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon called the Vintage Christmas Plaid ribbon.  I love making a variety of cards for Christmas and wanted the next five cards to have that ole country vintage look to it.

 I made this bow like all my bows using the Zutter Bow It All V2.0 and couldn't have done as well without this bow maker.  If you don't know how to use this bow maker, view the wonderful U-Tube  on Zutter Bow It All videos that Bonnie Garby has made for you to get you started on the right track.  She has created other U-Tube videos on different bows for your project and cards.  I added some beautiful spray berries and golden bells to this bow.  Again, this is the Really Reasonable Ribbon Vintage Christmas Plaid ribbon. 

I wrapped this corner with this beautiful ribbon and added some golden jingle bells and red spray berries along with the Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Festive Holly Spray.  The tiny red berries on the holly branches are dots of Stickles red glitter glue.

The picture and green with holly background paper are from the Graphic 45 Christmas Carol collection and the gold and green die cut around this picture is the gorgeous new Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Delicate Garden Frame.  Behind the frame is the Cherry Lynn Design-Boutique Rectangle Stacker Frame.  I had to cut some of the length of the Boutique Stacker frame to fit the Delicate Garden Frame.

Nephew Turning One Year Old

 Hi!  I am Nancy and welcome back.  I am so excited to share my card with this gorgeous satin  ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon called the Stitched Sheer/Satin Ombre Light Blue.  You'll just love the wonderful selection of other beautiful ribbon, products, awesome prices, fast shipping and great customer service!  This beautiful ribbon comes in three other colors and only 30 cents a yard. I love the gorgeous shine and the delicate white stitch in this ribbon.  I made the bow using the easy-to-use Bow-it-All v2.0 which was purchased at Really Reasonable Ribbon.   Behind the beautiful blue ribbon is the 1.5" white netting ribbon which comes in a variety of colors.  I added some blue Stickles glitter glue on parts of the white netting to accent the area.

Also, Really Reasonable Ribbon has the Wild Orchid Craft flowers.  I used the Wild Orchid Craft Open White Rose size 15mm. throughout this card.   I made my own angel pin attached to the blue ribbon. 

The picture is from Whimsy Stamps-Sylvia Zet-Birthday Boy and I colored it with Copic markers.  I used Stickles Crystal glitter glue on the icing on both cakes.

I love the Cherry Lynn Design Anastasia border die and use this die often.  To make this border look more like lace after cutting the die out, I  crumbled the border and then glued it on the back of blue  Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-York Collection-Madison Square frame.  The inside white die cut, blue flowers and the butterflies are from the new Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Delicate Garden collection.  I added some embossing powder that has blue glitter, white and gold colors in the powder to the butterflies. 

The background white paper was embossed using the Creative Expression-Sue Wilson-Snowflake Lattice embossing folder.   Even though it is called Snowflake Lattice, I still use it for other cards since I love this embossing and the snowflakes look like flowers as well.

Monochromatic Christmas Card

It's the middle the month and that means it's time for a new Scrapyland Challenge (http://www.scrapyland-blog.com/). The Scrapyland Challenge #30 is "Monochromatic" using any brand of dies that Scrapyland on-line store sells.  This challenge ends on December 1st and the winner, chosen by the Designers, will receive a $15 gift certificate to Scrapyland (http://www.scrapyland.com/) on-line store. 

I was challenged to make a monochromatic colored card but actually had fun with this one using gold, brown and black colors. 


I love the new Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Design Festive Collections for this year that Scrapyland store sells.  This is the  Sue Wilson's  Peace On Earth and was cut with black paper and  embossed with Ranger Melt Art Copper embossing powder. 















The copper frame around the Sue Wilson's Wise Men Mini Striplet was also done the same way.  This die set has two dies in it for the background and the frame.  The background paper behind the wise men is an antique gold glitter paper. 

I cut out the Cherry Lynn Design Horizontal Stacker Frame.  I love all of the Cherry Lynn stacker frames since the frames coordinate well with many Cherry Lynn dies.  I had to cut it down the center of this frame to fit around the Wise Men Striplet.  I used foam pads behind the frame.














The embossing folder is from Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Design Lattice Snowflake.  I am in love with this embossing folder and have been using it on many of my Christmas cards. 

I love this gold glitter bow from Really Reasonable Ribbon.com.  I used the Zutter Bow-It-All V2 bow maker from Really Reasonable Ribbon on-line store to create this bow.  I used my angel mold to make this beautiful praying angel and colored the angel with gold chalk powder to give it an antique vintage look.

Fabric Softener Sheets for die cutting

Does your die look like this when you cut something out? You spend the next few minutes poking out those little intricate cuts in your dies.  Want to save time as well as it provides a little better embossing look!!!

Using the cheapest fabric softener sheets and make sure it is as free of dyes and perfumes due to getting that sticky stuff on the paper and making it gooey, you get a die and cut that almost doesn't need any poking out.  It not only saves time but it is a great way to get all of the embossing out of your die.  I use each sheet about 4 or 5 times before it is no longer good.  Again, buy the cheapest fabric softener sheets without any of the dyes and perfumes.

This is a Cherry Lynn Design border and before, I had to spend a little time poking out all of the paper out of the die or the cut out.  The company says that I only have to tap the die and these little cuts come out, but never happened to my friends or me when we tried tapping it on a garbage can.

Place your die with the paper and then lay the fabric softener sheet down on the paper and then lay the cutting pad down and run your machine.  This is what it should look like with the fabric softener behind the paper.  This die needed the fabric softener behind the paper since it wasn't cutting out well.

Once I peeled off the die cut, this is what remains on the fabric softener.  Nothing in the die nor the cut.
Here is another example of an intricate die that was already cut out. 

Note:  The die cut is on the fabric softener sheet and nothing to poke out of the die.  

Now look at the fabric softener sheet after I pulled the die cut out of the fabric softener sheet.  Nothing was on the die or on the die cut and everything is on the fabric softener sheet.

This doesn't work with all dies, cuts or paper but when it does work, it saves time and note that it also adds more of the embossing from the die to the paper than just cutting it out with only the cutting pads.

All of my friends now use this technique
and we have been using it now for over a year with great results most of the time.

Tis the Season and playing with this beautiful November Club assortment of gold and silver ribbons inspired me to make Christmas cards and projects for this year since Christmas is just around the corner.

 

 This bow is a combination of the beautiful November Ribbon Club assortment of satin ribbons:  

Random Stars on Light Silver , Crosshatch on Old Gold, Satin with Grosgrain Edge Light Silver  and Judy White Crochet Lace. 

The center is a snowflake tie pin that I bought at a thrift store or garage sale this summer.  It is gorgeous on the bow. 

I have fun making my own hat/corsage pins by using a variety of beads that I have collected over the years.  I add glue to the pin and put the beads back on the pin to keep the beads in place

I used foam glue pads behind the silver glitter paper before gluing it onto the white embossed paper to give it some dimension. 

 

The gold frame is a Creative Expression by Sue Wilson Carribean Island Background die.  This die set has four dies and I used the first three and not the center die for this card. 

The white paper with the embossed snowflakes is from Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Snowflake Lattice embossing folder.

The sentiment is from Stampendous Christmas Love rubber stamp.

Wise Men Will Seek Him

Hi!  I am Nancy and I am honored to be a Quest Designer for Really Reasonable Ribbon with wonderful and very talented team of designers who share their gorgeous projects with ribbons and bows from the Really Reasonable Ribbon store.  The Really Reasonable Ribbon store has ribbons and supplies such as the Zutter Bow-It-All V2 to make your bows look professional and just beautiful on any card.

 I love November's Really Reasonable Ribbon Silver and Gold Mix ribbon.  Just using some ribbons from this assortment puts me in the Christmas spirit and inspires me to start making my Christmas cards now.  Also, the silver and gold ribbons would look great on any anniversary or wedding cards or projects.

 

I decided to make this Christmas cards using the November Silver and Gold Mix selection of Diagonal Stripes Light Silver and Old Gold on Satin Ribbon in the center of the Delicate Stitched Satin Old Gold .  I used my handy Zutter Bow-It All V2  to make this bow.

 I have a mold to make my angels.  I used some antique gold chalk to color this angel to make it more antique looking.

The embossing folder is from Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Design Lattice Snowflake.  Peace is from Impression Obsession and Joy is a Tattered Lace die.

 
 

 


This is a Creation Expression Sue Wilson's Wise Men Mini Striplet. The background paper behind the wise men is an antique gold glitter paper. 

I cut out the Cherry Lynn Design Horizontal Stacker Frame.  I had to cut it down the center of this frame to fit around the Wise Men Striplet.  I used foam pads behind the frame.

Really Reasonable Ribbons Tag Challenge

Hi!  I am Nancy and excited to be on the talented designer team for Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I hope my Christmas tags inspire you to get started on your holiday cards and projects this Christmas season.  Start right away by ordering your beautiful ribbons and supplies from Really Reasonable Ribbon to make your gorgeous cards and projects stand out from the rest.

When I was a little girl, my aunt loved making flowers out of ribbon.  Therefore, I wanted these bows to appear like flowers on each of these tags.  I used the Scor Tape  that I bought at Really Reasonable Ribbon (RRR) to stick the bows on each stockings.  All of the stocking were hung using the RRR Baker's Twine Gold Metallic string.  The Christmas stocking die is from Sizzix.   

I wanted my first tag to look elegant so I decided to mixed the blue and white for the bow.  The beautiful blue ribbon with the snowflakes is the Grosgrain Blue Ribbon Mist Snowflake and the gorgeous white and silver ribbon is the Grosgrain Silver Edges White.  I had an old red felt Christmas stocking and cut out the white fur on top of the stocking to fit this one.  I used a blue Copic Marker to cover the white pearl on top of the corsage/hat pins.  I love making my corsage pins for my bows and individualize each pin for each card.  The embossing folder, poinsettia and leaf branch are from Creative Expression Sue Wilson Designs.

 

I love working with seam binding ribbon.  Did you know that you can get a vintage look by using a hot embossing gun to give seam binding ribbon some wrinkles to make it look old.  This is the RRR Lipstick Red seam binding ribbon with the RRR Wild Orchid Craft Gold Bead Berry Spray in the center to make the poinsettia.   The angel was a tie pin and the bells were earrings that I bought at a garage sale.  I used felt this time for the top of the stocking.  The green leaves are from Cherry Lynn and the white branch is from Creative Expression Sue Wilson die. 

 

 

I wanted to make a rustic country tag since we live in the country and raise cows and farm.  This bow was made using the RRR Wired Faux Burlap Antique Gold ribbon with the RRR red Wild Orchid  Wild Bead Berry Spray in the center.
I loved working with this wired burlap ribbon to make this bow.  The burlap paper is from DCWV printed burlap pad and matches well with this beautiful burlap ribbon.  The white branch is from Creative Expression Sue Wilson Designs.

Special Furry Friends

It's the first Wednesday of November and that means it's time for a new Scrapyland Challenge (http://www.scrapyland-blog.com/). I just received the new Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Designs - Festive Collection - Snowflake Corner, Border & Tag that comes in a set of 3 dies.  I love this set of dies for this year. 
I cut out 4 snowflake corners and the tag.  This tag is so gorgeous with the snowflakes at each end.

I used the Tattered Lace dies  2014 Christmas Sentiment set "Let It Snow" for the tag.  The mint green paper was embossed using the Creative Expression-Sue Wilson Designs - Snowflake Lattice embossing folder.

The beautiful doily is a die from the Cherry Lynn Designs English Tea Party Doily.   I used a mint green gathered ribbon from Stampin Up around the image before gluing it onto the doily.  The image is from Whimpsy Stamps called Winter Friends and I used Copic Markers to color it.  Like most Christmas images that I color, I always add a little Stickles glitter glue to accent parts of the picture.

The pearly white snowflakes were made using the Stampendous Chunky White Deep Impression embossing enamel.  I dipped a small pin into the embossing bottle and dotted it around  in different places around the picture and then added the embossing powder.  After shaking off the excess powder, I took a hot embossing blower behind the picture - NOT IN FRONT until I got the embossing power to rise to make the snowflakes.   I made the mistake the first time and put the image with the snowflakes through the Sizzix machine to cut out the circle and then the snowflakes became flat.  I just used the hot embossing gun on the back of the paper and snowflakes were fine and not flat.

The white glitter ribbon and rose are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.com.  This company also carries the Zutter Bow-It-All V2 Bow Maker which I use to make this bow along with all of my other bows.  I would highly recommend this bow maker.  I always use the 1.5 inch Scor-Tape to stick any bows to my cards.  Using this tape also keep the ribbon of the bow in the right place and this is especially helpful for mailing.
