Blue Valentine Box

Welcome Darlene and Donna for their new web site called Double D.  You have all the experience and a gorgeous website of being successful with this.  Double D  first exciting challenge is called Double D Challenge:  Forget Me Not.  I made this blue heart chocolate candy box just for your opening, Darlene and Donna, and wish you success this year and more to come.  You have always inspired me with your work.

The Wee Stamp-Florist is bringing a gorgeous bouquet of blue Forget-Me-Not flowers for your opening of Double D Challenge.  Since the image is so small, I colored it with pencil rather than Copic Marker to get the pastel colors in this picture.  I used glitter ink pencils for some of the flowers to bring them out.

The flowers and ribbon are a combination of Wild Orchid Crafts from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The blue Forget-Me-Not flowers and butterfly are from Sue Wilson-Delicate Garden Set and the leaves are from Sue Wilson-Finishing Touches-Delicate Fronds.  The white flowers behind the bow are the Sue Wilson-Dandelion.   I added Ranger Liquid Orange Pearl in the center of the Forget-Me-Not flowers that were made from Sue Wilson-Delicate Garden set.

I used the Cheery Lynn Heart To Heart Frame to make the box and used the dies for the top.  I even used the die to cut out the picture and added the smaller frame around it.  I would advise taping the dies down to the cutting pad before cutting the Heart To Heart Frame, otherwise, you might get an uneven frame in the center.  To see how I made this heart shape box, visit Heart Shape Box Tutorial.

If you don't like poking out each heart from this frame, please check out my tutorial about using a fabric softener sheet.  Also, I am creating a tutorial on how to make these candy boxes from the Cheery Lynn Heart to Heart Frame which was inspired by Kathy Krug who did one for her blog.  Now that I have made several of these chocolate candy boxes for each of my grand children, I will give you a few tips on what worked for me as well as the dimensions, etc.  Use heavy card stock for the frame.

This is the side of the box.  I used ribbon and Scor-Tape from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I use Scor-Tape to attach my bows and ribbon all the time.

The only thing left is the chocolates to fill each box.

Darlene and Donna - This is a very exciting time for you and wish you good luck in what you have planned to do in Double D Challenges.

THUD!!! This is so beautiful. The focal image is perfect and so is that floral spray. The sides of the box are also finished perfectly. I can't wait to see your tutorial. I am trying to imagine how you shaped the sides of the box and I am drawing a blank. Thanks for sharing your creativity at the Double D Challenges.

How perfect for the Double D Challenge, Miss Nancy! Your chocolate box is not only "sweet" (pun intended), but beautiful! It's a wonderfully put together piece of art, and a fun gift to give, too! Nancy, the tiny pink flowers remind me of Easter when I was a child (way back when). We had head bands, cuffed gloves, and other pretties back in the 50s with those pretty little yellow centered flowers! Thanks for sharing your beautiful box! hugs, de
