Birthday Card Snoopy neighbor

The window is the Madison Window from Poppy Stamps. 

I had the Art Impression Golden Oldies Women Gabber and Art Impression (AI) Girlfriends and saying "Wine gets better..."  I used Copic Markers to color the AI people.

This card has three pages.    My friend is having a birthday and she has neighbors that are always spying and gossiping about anyone and that is why I bought Hollis as the spyer this time and I needed more stamps for male cards for our red neck area. 

The cat is from a Cherry Lynn die.

Pastel Yellow Birthday Card

I needed to make one more birthday card for this month of March.  I used the Spellbinder Card Creator Label 4 dies for the frame on the left and a Cherry Lynn frame which I had to modify and cut to fit the small rectangle frame on the right.  The flowers are from the Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves and baby breathe are from Cherry Lynn Leaf strip and Cherry Lynn Baby Breath.  I added white twigs from a  Martha Stewart  punch.  The cupid is from Prima.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up.  I colored parts of the sentiment with Copic Markers.

Birthday Card

  I just bought the Graphic 45 Celebrate pad and decided to use it for the background.  I embossed the white paper with a Stampin Up embossing folder and used Ranger Rick Liquid Pearl and pearls around the embossing folder.  The saying came from a Stampin Up stamp set.

I used the Spellbinder border die for the middle, frame for the saying and the square dies for the background.  

The flowers were made using the Cherry Lynn Baby Breath, Tea Rose, Leaf Strip and small Rose.  I found several little Accent Design resin bonnets from a thrift store in Boise, Idaho and colored it with Copic Markers.

I wanted to make a few cards with Christ picture on them and still keep the vintage look.  The paper came from Graphic 45.  The Cherry Lynn dies used were:  'Easter' 'Blessings' and 'Leaf Flourish' and the center of the Heartfelt Creation flowers were from the Cherry Lynn die set, 'Flower #1'.  The frame dies are from Spellbinder Nestabilities set.

 

I find my charms at garage sales and thrift stores.  While looking at the back of this cross on the card, it had Lourdes and Lucille engraved on it.  Question if it came from Europe.  Sending this card at Easter time to my grand daughter that is temporarily living in New York City.

Baby Girl Shower

 I created an Explosion Box card for a baby shower for a women expecting a baby girl.  I used a variety of dies but mostly Marianne Designs and Cherry Lynn Designs.

Marianne Designs dies used were the pink doily used on all four outside squares, "Baby" word, Diaper Pen, Stroller, and Umbrella located on the top of the box lid.  

Cherry Lynn Design dies used were the word "Blessings" and Sophie Border die for border around the lid of the box. 

 I created the baby shoe using a template online.  The lamb was from an old Sizzix die.  The crib bed is from Tattered Lace Dies.  I created the bows using the Zutter Bow Maker Version 2. 

I added lace from an ole stash and paper buttons on the outside of the card.

Springtime Card

 



It has been unusually warm in our area and it feels like springtime.  Therefore, I made a card this week to send to my sister in Colorado who was getting springtime weather in the Rockies last week but bunches of snow this week. 

I used the Cherry Lynn Polynesian Sails Oval die to frame the girl what was stamped with a retired Stampin Up Easter stamp set.  I made the tulips using the Cherry Lynn Tea Rose Small die for the trumpet of the daffodil and a McGill flower punch for the rest of this daffodil.  The white/pink flowers were made using the Cherry Lynn Baby's Breath Flower Kit die and I also added the Cherry Lynn Fanciful Flourish.

The butterfly was made using the new Stampin Up butterfly punch and die set and I colored it using pearl inks.  The tulips were from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The paper was the Graphic 45 Secret Garden.
I used the Zutter Bow Maker to shape my wired ribbon bow.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 173 - Anything Goes

  I had a new learning experience building my first pop up box card.  There were several tutorials on how to build a pop up box card.  The tutorial that I used was located at:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/popupboxcard/ from Monica Gale.  A pop up box card is created to fold down to fit into an envelope.

I cut narrow strips with different lengths from a clear paper protector sheet and glued each flower, balloon, butterfly and 'Happy Birthday' on each strip giving with different lengths to give the height that I wanted for each one.  My challenge and time were arranging the flowers, balloons, etc. before finally gluing everything to the inside of the card.  One tutorial suggested to tape the strips and/or flowers, etc. inside the card first which can be removed again and again until you achieved the arrangement that you wanted before finally gluing it to the inside of the card which I used and recommend.

Several Cherry Lynn dies were used to build this card.  On the outside bottom of the card was the Cherry Lynn Sophia Heart Border (see in the pictures the scallop of this border).  The "Happy Birthday" is from Cherry Lynn.  The flowers came from Cherry Lynn Manon's Wedding Garland die.  I used the small flower from this die.  In the center of the arrangement, I used the Cherry Lynn Small Exotic Butterflies #1 as well as the Cherry Lynn Mini Fanciful Flourish. 

I created the presents with the ribbon using a square punch and the bows were created using the Zutter Bow Maker.  The balloons were punched from an old punch.

Additional dies from other companies used were the Cottage Cutz Number Candles and Marianne Designs Cupcake.  The paper is from Graphic 45 'Celebrate'. 

Cherry Lynn Challenge - Shaped Card

This card is called a block card.    There are many tutorials on how to make this card.  I revised mine to made the front of the card larger and will also be the same size of the back when folded.  I added one additional step to reinforce the blocks to stay open each time the card is opened.  Otherwise, the back side wants to stick to the front. 

The paper is from Graphic 45.  The frame on the front of the card is the Cherry Lynn Dutch Doily Rectangle .  I made the flowers and rose buds using the Cherry Lynn Miniature Rose die and Cherry Lynn Rea Rose die.  The leaves are from the Cherry Lynn Flourish Leaf die strip.

I even made the lady bugs using the Ranger red and black liquid pearl drops.

I used the Range Liquid Pearls Ruby Red and Onyx Black to make the lady bug along with a fine Sharpie pen for the dots.  Use one drop of red pearl and let dry.  Then add the dots and then the black pearl and let dry before removing from parchment paper or a clear plastic paper protector to glue onto the leaf.  

Cherry Lynn Challenge #171 - Tickled Pink

I had some fun and challenges with this card.  I found this little cherub at a local thrift store and decided to use it on one of my Valentine's cards.   

Please read the tutorial below on how I made my rose buds using Cherry Lynn dies.

The larger 2 white flowers are from the Cherry Lynn Small Gardenia die and the white rose under the branch is from Cherry Lynn Tea Rose die.  I love the Small Gardenia flower die and have used it almost on all of my cards with roses.  I cute out the pink tea roses with white/gold shimmer paper and sponged the petals with pink ink.  I crunched each petals with my fingers to give it the tea rose appearance before gluing it together.  This time, I used the hot glue gun instead of fast tacky glue which helped keep the flowers in the shape that I wanted.

The tiny white flowers with the pink and white hearts are from the Cherry Lynn Baby Breath Flower Kit.  The pink hearts came from the Cherry Lynn Cape Cod Doily die.  I used the Cherry Lynn Flourish Leaf Strip and Cherry Lynn Ivy Strip.

The inside is from Spellbinder's Majestic Element.  The embossing is from Cuttlebugs.  The scallop hearts are from Martha Stewart heart punch.  The stamp is from Stampin Up.

Many of my friends asked he how I make my rose buds from the Cherry Lynn dies.
 I prepared a small tutorial that I think would be useful for how I make my rose buds.

Rose Bud that I added to the tutorial will give you an idea how close my rose buds look to the commercial rose buds using a single flower. 


I will use three of Cherry Lynn flower dies to show the difference of rose buds along with adding one flower or two flowers to form different size buds since to look like the rose bud is blooming.  

On the right, I used the Cherry Lynn Miniature Rose, Cherry Lynn Large Rose and the Cherry Lynn Tea Rose Small.

I like using a foam pad and this stylus formed these rose buds.  Use the stylus only on the tips of each rose petals and leaves (knows as the sepal).  I like using the Cherry Lynn Miniature Rose leaf for rose buds because it is small enough to show off the rose bud.  I found the larger leaf dies will hide most of the rose bud.

NOTE:  If using paper with one side that has texture, make the texture side the inside of the flower and not the outside of the petal or leaf.  I have found it doesn't make a nice looking rose bud when the texture is showing.  Therefore, shown on the right, I am forming the flower on the textured side and will be gluing together only the tips of the petals.  After the rose bud is formed, the smooth side will show. 

Flowers have a shimmer look to the petals. I prefer shimmer paper to create my flowers and rose buds.   I use white or cream and then sponge the petals with color ink.  It will still show the glimmer to the flowers afterwards and bring a light to the flowers and rose buds.


Adding a green wire serves two purposes besides adding a stem to the rose bud.  It is easier to hold while making rose buds and it is easier to stay on the card.

 I used this tool and curled the end of the wire large enough so that it won't come out after sliding it through the hole of the flower. 

Make sure you only glue the tips of each petal and then squeeze the tips together with your fingers until the glue dries. 

Normally, I like using the hot glue gun when making flowers but when using it to make the rose buds, it was drying too fast and it left a lot of glue on the outside of the rose bud that didn't come off and didn't look good.

After the glue on the rose bud is almost dry, just slide the leaf through the wired stem and only glue the tips of each leaf onto the rose bud.   I used my fingers to hold the leaves on the rose bud until the glue dried.  If you get a little glue that shows on the leaf, just use a colored marker to hide it.  Sometimes, I don't always bring the leaf right up to the bottom of the rose bud and glue the tips of the leaf right in the middle of the rose bud.  It shows off the rose bud a little more when you want this look.  Note the small space below the rose bud is open but won't show when glued onto the card.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 170 - Add a Flourish

I  received new dies from Cherry Lynn this past month and are being used in my Valentine cards this year.  The Cherry Lynn French doily was curled and used as the flower holder.

Additional dies were the Impression Obsession cupids and Marianne Design flourish stem.   I used Ranger Metal Art embossing powder and glitter on vellum paper after cutting out the cupid to provide some dimension and added crystal glitter glue to parts of the cupid.

I added small dots of Ranger Pearl  inside of the Sophia Doily.  I added a heart charm to the flowers.  I formed the bow first and melted it with the hot glue gun to melt it enough and give it vintage look.  

Cherry Lynn Challenge #169 - Anything Goes

My daughter gave me three day notice that they are getting married this Sunday and I love a challenge so I volunteered to hold the reception at my house as well as being the photographer.  They were getting married this summer but due to penalties for not having insurance, they rushed to get married to meet the Federal deadlines.  Therefore, I have three days to make a card, do the reception, make cakes, cook for a number of people, etc.  In this small town about 4 hours from a city, I had to make everything myself as well as become the photographer at the wedding and hold the reception at my house since there wasn't any restaurants open on Sunday.  I used the butterfly from Cherry Lynn along with making some paper flowers for the cake and floral decorations.

I just received the Cherry Lynn Anastasia Border and used it for my outside frame of the card.  I also got the Cherry Lynn Small Tea Rose die with the same order from Cherry Lynn Company.  I did a few tea roses using this die but added this time two Prima pink flowers behind the roses which added some dimension and contrast.  The miniature white flowers are from the Cherry Lynn Baby Breath Flower Kit die and added the Ranger Liquid Pearl and the Congratulations is also from Cherry Lynn.  Their is a small dragon fly from the Cherry Lynn Tiny Things That Fly die.

The couple is made using the Tattered Lace Couple die and added Ranger Liquid Pearl to the dress.  The gold frame is from Spellbinder and I added gold embossing on the outside of the frame.

Below is the Cherry Lynn Lace Flourish Butterfly.  I did the arrangements using real flowers, paper flowers and plastic flowers.   I baked two cakes and used the cream cheese frosting.  I made errors with my photography since I forgot to clean the lenses and making a special filling in my  cakes was a challenge.  I covered some of the errors with flowers.  I learned alot and enjoyed the challenge and especially the wonderful company and wedding. I learned a few things for the next large gatherings at my house.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 168 - Sweethearts and Design Team

 This card is for the weekly challenge as well as for the Design Team selection. 

I had a lot of fun but spent loads of time thinking about the next steps for each square.  Normally, I don't spend this much time on a card but occasionally, I enjoy spending a lot of time thinking about the person and what I want to express in my card to them and taking my time to create it. 

This Valentine's Explosion Box card will go to my son and his girl friend who might get married this year.

I make a lot of my cards and flowers using shimmer paper.  This card was using the cream color of the Recollection Shimmer Champagne paper and sponging it with Stampin Up Pink Pirquettie for the doily and heart. I keep sponging until I get the color that I want.  It still shimmer after applying the ink.

Behind the Celtic Heart was the Spellbinder Heart.  I made the heart box using the CL flower Cutie Four  inside of my heart and be able to glue the lids together.  

 The left square was using the Recollection Shimmer Champagne paper and sponging it with Stampin Up Sage Shadow on the Cherry Lynn DL218 Manon's Wedding Garland.  I added the smallest flowers from the  Cherry Lynn B264 Baby's Breath Flower Kit die set.

The couple is from the Tattered Lace dies and sponged with Stampin Up Pink Pinquette and the made is sponged with Stampin Up Going Gray.

 The top square is using the Recollection Shimmer Champagne paper and sponging the Cherry Lynn B152 Miniature Rose and B154 Medium Rose.  I didn't sponge each petal to give it some dimension.  I sponged the Cherry Lynn Celtic Heart with Stampin Up Pink Pinquette and them used the Versa Mark embossing.  I used the Ranger Melt Art Ultra Thick clear embossing powder for the heart.  It gives the heart a glassy 3-B look.  I have lately been using the Ranger Melt Art Ultra Thick clear embossing powder more most of my cards.

 The right side was using the Tattered Lace rose and Impression Obsession cupids.  There is a Cherry Lynn butterfly from the B266 Tiny Things With Wing set.  I used pink vellum paper for the cupids and then applied the Ranger Melt Art Ultra Thick embossing powder and added some glitter to the wings.  I did the same for the Cherry Lynn butterfly and the pink flowers.  Again, notice the glassy look.

 The bottom side was using the Spellbinder die.  The cupid is from the same set of Impression Obsession.  Again, I applied Ranger Melt Art Ultra Thick embossing powder to the cupid and the arrow.

I applied the Ranger  Melt Art Ultra Thick embossing powder to the Happy Valentines as well as to the top of the rose along with glitter to the rose and double heart. 

I often use organza ribbon since I can apply the hot embossing gun to the ribbon (applied to this ribbon) and it crinkles giving it a vintage look.  Also, one can apply different colored ink to organza ribbon and let dry before forming the ribbon to give it a vintage look.

The heart was using the Cherry Lynn heart set and the Cherry Lynn B333 Sophie Heart Border.  I applied the Ranger Melt Art Ultra Thick to the letters after sponging the letters with the pink ink.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 167 - Snowflakes

I love coloring this little angel from Wee Stamps with Copic Markers and used Stickles Crystal glitter glue throughout the picture..  I used the Cherry Lynn wording, "Thank You".  The embossing/cutting folder is Die'Sire Create-A-Card from Crafter's Companion.  The snow flakes were cut using an ole Sizzix snowflake strip.  I wished I had the Cherry Lynn small snowflakes for this card and will need this for next winder.

I love using organza ribbon to create my bows.  For the vintage look, I applied the hot air gun, normally used for embossing, on the bow and within a minute, the bow will start to crinkle.  Also, if you don't have but the white organza ribbon, apply a color such as the Distress inks on the ribbon and rub it a little.  After it dries, it also adds the vintage look as well as using the hot air gun after you created your bow.  I love to create my bows just using my three fingers.  I am still learning more techniques and would like to be even better at it.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 166 - Winter Whites - DT

I enjoyed getting out my older Cherry Lynn dies to create this Winter White card using a Wee Stamp.  I embossed the picture using the Darcie snowflake embossing folder and framed it with the Cherry Lynn DL218 Manon's Wedding Garland.  I added Ranger White Opal Liquid Pearl on parts of the garland/doily and on some snowflakes.

I embossed a 5x7 paper using a Couture Creation embossing folder.  The border around the embossed card is created using the Cherry Lynn Francesca B159 border die.  I cut out four of the borders and created a frame for the card. 

The flower bouquet is created with the Cherry Lynn Flourish Leaf Strip B178 that was cut with white glitter paper.  The smaller flowers are made from the Cherry Lynn Baby Breath Flower Kit B364.  I glued the flowers onto the branch and then added Art Glitter Crystal Transparent glitter to the flowers and branch.  I added the same glitter to the Cherry Lynn Gardenia Small B433 flowers that was actually created using fabric.  Unfortunately, the picture doesn't bring out the glitter on the flowers and branches.  The Thank You is from the Cherry Lynn B230 and 235 and was cut using white glitter paper.

Cheery Lynn Designs Challenge 165 - Thank You

I wanted to use the Christmas colors for this card since it will be for thanking a friend for Christmas presents.

The doily die is my favorite Cherry Lynn DL153 Polynesian Sails Oval that I use often on many cards.  

The small and larger red glitter paper flowers are from the Cherry Lynn B364 Baby's Breath Flower Kit die.  The smaller baby breaths were glued in the center of each flowers on the doily.  The leaves above the doily is from the Cherry Lynn B178 Flourish Leaf Strip and CL B304 Ivy Strip leaves and green glitter was glued on the leaves.

The 'Thank You' is from Cherry Lynn B320 using the larger saying.
