Stamping Bella Uptown Girls and Technique for Backgrounds

Welcome back and Nancy, here, to share some fun Stamping Bella Uptown Girls stamps with different techniques for the backgrounds for each card.  The Rubber Buggy carries the Stamping Bella stamps and I just love the Stamping Bella Uptown Girls stamps.  I created three cards to share with you and will go through how I did each background.  

I stamped each girl with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used Copic Markers to color each one.  You can fussy cut each one but I have a very handy Brothers Scan and Cut machine to do it for me. 

I always use the Beacon 3-in-1 Advance glue and Scor Tape for my cards and projects.

This adorable Stamping Bella-Uptown Girl-Curvy Girl Eats Cake is so much fun to color.  I find that viewing a variety of on-line videos of how people color their images helps me so much and advances my skills in coloring. I cut out the present below the girl from another Stamping Bella-Uptown Girl-Eva Loves Her Cake stamp since it seemed to coordinate well.

For my background, I used the Tim Holtz Rose stencil, Ranger Distress Oxide Ink:  Spun Sugar and Spiced Marmalade and some darker pink ink.  I highly recommend using the new Picket Fence Studio brushes new at The Rubber Buggy for sponging now.  I add the ink and then tap my brush on a scrap paper to brush off excess ink and then applied the ink for sponging.  I can pretty much clean the brush off with a paper towel to apply other colors.  After a complete day of sponging, I just use a little soap and water which cleans off all of the inks from the brush and let dry to use the next day. 

This Stamping Bella-Uptown Girl-Eva Birthday Cake is still one of my go-to stamps for my birthday cards for my granddaughters.  I used a white pen for her dress.  I stamped out a Wild Rose Studio sentiment and used a circle punch to cut it out.  The background papers are in the Heartfelt Creations Classic Petunia paper pad collection..The patterned paper with the petunias was cut out with the paper pad and I added a scalloped border on each side before adhering the oval on top.

For the star background, you can use a star punch, die or stencil on white cardstock.  I added some transfer paste which could be substituted for glue. Let dry and then use a rainbow foil (which I used a rainbow transfer foil sheet). I love the festive shine from the foil for this girl.  Then I adhered the Stamping Bella Eva Love Her Cake with the sentiment on top of the oval.

I just love this Stamping Bella-Uptown Girl-Charlotte Loves To Shop for my teenage grand daughters.  I used a brick stencil and sponged on Ranger Oxide Distress inks:  Mustard Seed and Shaded Lilac before adhering her to the card.  Then I stamped the sentiment which came with the stamp.  I added the  Lemon My Sweet Provence patterned paper to the frame.  I adhere the Wild Orchid Craft flowers to the card with my ribbons.

Steampuck Card for Son In Law

Welcome back and hope you are having a wonderful start for the new year.  I have a few male birthday cards to make right now and a nice change from making Christmas cards for the past few months. If you are looking for vintage parts for your vintage steam puck projects, The Rubber Buggy on-line store carries the supplies you will need from Prima Marketing, Tim Holtz, etc.  The Rubber Buggy carries these major name-brand craft supplies with fast delivery and wonderful customer services.

I had a sheet in my piling stash of old paper of gold mirror foil and embossed it with the Sizzix 3D Tim Holtz Mechanic Embossing Folder.  I used a brush to apply the Prima Marketing Finnabair Black Gesso over the entire sheet.  If you use a brush and tap it on, you will get more of a rustic appearance rather than brushing it smoothly.    I applied the Prima Marketing Metallique Aged Brass, Rich Copper, Ginger Sparks and Red Amber with some Ranger Dauber Black Soot.  Occasionally, I used a dry wipe to spread or remove any excess colors.

I cut out the edges of the embossed section before gluing and adding the gears that were also covered with black gesso and various colors of the same Prima Marketing Metallique waxes. I love using the Prima Marketing waxes since it provides a nice metallic sheen on this paper along with the Prima Marketing Art Alchemy Ginger Sparks.   I just use my fingers to smear these waxes and Sparks on the paper and gears.   I first applied the black gesso in the Prima Marketing Finnabair Art Basic Mixed Media Essentials Gesso Sets on the gears and screws and let dry before applying the waxes and Sparks.

I added the brown baker twine and then used a hot glue gun for the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Metal Word Bands.  I smeared some Prima Marketing waxes on the metal word bands.  

I cut out some patterned brown paper and distress the one edge with my fingers and used a pencil to draw the stitches.  I applied the Ranger Antique Linen to the edges for a distress look.  

I sponged on the Ranger Distress Antique Linen ink to the stamped sentiment and number 41st.

Easter Cards Wild Rose Studio

The Wild Rose Studio Easter Bunny stamp was used for the card above.  I stamped and colored it with Copic Markers.  I handmade the flower and added a button in the center.  I used an Blue Fern Studio Easter Egg chipboard in the center.  The  dotted pink paper is from the Lemon Craft My Sweet Provence papers.

I used the Wild Rose Studio Spring Bunny for the card above along with the Lawn Fawn Happy Easter border die.  The stamped bunnies were colored with Copic Marker.  The gorgeous printed paper is from the Stamperia Precious.  

I stamped the paper with the Wild Rose Studio Bunny and Butterfly and colored with Copic Markers.  I adhered Wild Orchid Craft flowers on the card and the gorgeous paper is from the Wild Rose Studio paper pad.  I die cut the Lawn Fawn Happy Easter border die and used the Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced glue to adhere the card together.  I cut out the Lawn Fawn Rectangle frame with white cardstock.  I added a light colored green gathered ribbon around the frame.

Maid of Honor gift boxes

I told one of our Rubber Buggy Brigade members that I will get this posted for her since she is interested in making these boxes.  I thought I had this posted earlier this past year but didn't for The Rubber Buggy so better late than never.  

I made 6 Maid-of-Honor gift boxes for my grand daughter's wedding last year.  Actually, the thinking part took longer than doing it and it was fun making these for her to hand out at her bridal shower.  

The Rubber Buggy has the supplies, embellishments and papers that you will want to have before you begin these fun and exciting gift boxes.The supplies include a hot glue gun, Beacon 3-in-1 glue, Stamperia papers, chipboards, Venice lace, Rosette lace, Prima Marketing metal handles with the Prima Marketing waxes, Tim Holtz Ideo-ology metal labels and plain ole wooden 8 1/2" square cigar boxes made by Darice from some local craft stores or on-line.  I added some additional lace and 6mm flat back pearl string from my stash collected over the years.

I love how I can personalize my projects with this gorgeous Stamperia Ceremony and Stamperia Alphabet papers in this pad that captures the beauty and tranquility of shabby chic or vintage handmade cards, mini albums, journals, and scrapbook pages along with unaltered projects like covering my wooden box that will be filled with chocolates, gifts, a card.

Take off the hinges before painting the inside with plain chalk colored paints.  It doesn't take much paint to cover the boxes with one coat of paint or maybe two.  I used the Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced glue to adhere the papers on top and around the box.  Keep the left over small pieces to cover the bottom of the box for that finished look.  I love gluing these small pieces over other pieces to cover the bottom of the box and the looks are gorgeous when done.  I had these metal corners, handle and label that I covered in white gesso and then used the Prima Marketing Sparks and Prima Marketing waxes.    

I typed and printed out each name and then lightly sponged on distress inks around the names for that vintage appearance.  I cut out some acetate for the front of the label and adhered the name and acetate together before gluing on the metal label.  I used a hot glue gun to glue the metal label onto the wood.

The Rubber Buggy carries a variety of Venise Lace.  I used additional lace as well as 6mm flat back string of pearls on my boxes.

 The Graphic 45 Shabby Chic Door Pull handle and Prima Marketing metal embellishments were painted with white gesso first and then brushed the Prima Marketing Sparks to give it more of a style of vintage and shabby chic.  I used a hot glue gun to adhere the lace and handles, and label on the box.

 But if you aren't familiar with Mod Podge, it's a decoupage medium — an all-in-one glue, sealer and finish used to attach paper and fabric to various surfaces.  To give these boxes a little sheen and finished appearance, I used a Mod Podge after gluing the Stamperia papers on the top, inside lid and bottom of the box before adhering the embellishments.  

I adhered a variety of Wild Orchid craft flowers to the inside of the box.  Again, I used the gorgeous Stamperia Ceremony paper, rosette flower lace and a chipboard for the inside lid.

Lawn Fawn Pivot Popup Birthday card

Welcome back and Nancy, here, to share with you some exciting Lawn Fawn dies that I know you will want in your crafting supplies for your next cards.  I will be showcasing in this site the Lawn Fawn Pivot Popup Die Set and Lawn Fawn Just Stitching Hearts besides other wonderful supplies that are available at The Rubber Buggy on-line and retail store.  

I cut out a the Lawn Fawn Outside Inside Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die for the frame and die cut the hearts using Lawn Fawn Just Stitching Hearts die set.  These double stitched hearts are only stitched and does not cut out a heart die, making these stitching hearts great for adding a decorative touch to your background!  I used my die cutting machine to add different size hearts to the background and sponged on pastel colored inks in the center of the hearts.  

The Stamping Bella UpTown Girls- Bianca Loves Her Big Cake was stamped and colored with Copic Markers.  I used the NUVO Simply White Gloss for the cake and polka dots on her dress.  I let the drops dry for a few hours.  I cut out the stamp and used Beacon 3-n-1 Advanced glue to adhere Bianca and the cake to the card.  The gorgeous pink patterned paper is from the Lemon Craft Sweet Secret collection.  The banner was made using the Lawn Fawn Wavy Banner Set with the Lawn Fawn Wavy Saying Stamp Set.  You will want to cut out the banner first and then stamp the sentiment on the banner.

I added a handmade bow with a Wild Orchid Craft flower in the center.

Lawn Fawn Pivot Popup Die Set

I added the Lawn Fawn Pivot Popup Die Set for the inside of the card.  This set includes everything you need to create a four-panel pop-up scene that twists open inside your card! Use the included hills, trees, and clouds to decorate your scene, or use the panels as a starting point to create your own pop-up masterpiece!  This panel can be used on a portrait or landscape side of the card.  You will need to watch the video on assembling the pivot before you begin.  Lawn Fawn made a video that goes through the steps.  Click on Here to take you to this video.  

The adorable elephant and other stamps for the inside of the card was stamped with the Wild Rose Studio stamp sets.  I used the Lemon Craft Sweet Secret collection for Lawn Fawn Pivot PopUp and cut out the roses.  Below you will see how the pivot die cut will twist when closing the card.  My recommendation is to use your bone folder tool or side of a ruler to fold down the score lines on the pivot die as well as again on back of the card when the card is closed after the popup was glued to the inside to made the popup twist better when the inside of the card is folded shut. Birthday card with Graphic 45

Welcome back and Nancy, here, to share a birthday card made with the new arrival of the January paper in this gorgeous Graphic 45 Fashion Forward 12 x 12 Paper Pad and Fashion Forward collection.

 What amazing vintage ladies in this paper pad with the beautiful sentiments and vivid colors.  I can't wait for you to try out this collection. 

 I cut out different sentiments in the Graphic 45 Fashion Forward paper pad to add for this card to personalize it for daughter.  I added the Wild Orchid mulberry flowers with the pearls and always ribbons on most of my cards.  I added a feather behind the bow with a rhinestone heart and pink mulberry flower in the center of the heart for that shabby chic/vintage look.  I used rose seam binding ribbon across the card and cut out a strip of white glittery cardstock to coordinate with the colors in this paper as well as a touch of glimmer.  I added the butterfly from the Graphic 45 Die Cut Assortment and adhered pink pearls in the center and glissen it with NUVO glitter pen.

I added a border around the image using the Graphic 45 Fashion Forward Stickers and  Graphic 45 Pattern and Solid Paper

I always personalize my cards by typing and printing on cardstock for the inside of the card.  This time, I added the Graphic 45 Fashion Forward paper from this same page for the inside besides adding the sentiment.

Laserowe Sympathy Cards

Welcome back and Nancy, here.  Sympathy cards are some of the toughest occasions to create cards for but no doubt these cards are meaningful to the recipient with personalized messages in the card of sympathy, support, and wonderful memories of the person who passed away.

Today, I'm sharing a  handmade sympathy card that is actually versatile enough to use for many other occasions with the Laserowe Love Chipboard - Crosses With Flowers. Laserowe Love Chipboard - Crosses With Flowers set has beautiful crosses and gorgeous lilies that are commonly used to make Easter cards, Sympathy cards, Confirmation or Baptism cards.

I tried to not to go overboard with embellishments and let the main focus of the card be the message on the front and inside of the card.  These gorgeous lillies on the card is like sending a bouquet of flowers to them as well.

The computer-generated message on the front of one card was printed and transfer gold foil sheet was used to color the message.  I used the NUVO Classic Gold embossing powder on the other card.   I already had an embossing folder with a sunrise but you can use just about any embossing background folder that you have.  I used gold foil for the top layer of the cross and painted the cross behind it with Prima Marketing Metallique Rich Copper wax and adhered the entire layers with the Beacon 3-in-1 Advance glue.  I used white paint for the lillies and used my light green Copic Marker for the center of the lillies. I added a butterfly that was embossed with gold glitter.

Valentine Gift Bag

Welcome back and Valentine's Day is only a few weeks away.  I made these Valentine's gift bags that will be filled with candy for some of my grandchildren.  The cardstock gift bags measure 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" with ribbon glued to the inside for handles.  All of these wonderful products and supplies are now available at The Rubber Buggy on-line and retail stores.  

The tiny hearts are found in the Lawn Fawn Heart Shaker Gift Tag set.  I cut out each heart tag with pink cardstock and the one on top has the Xs and Os in it and the one above with the sentiment has the medium sized hearts glued to the acetate.  I cut an addition heart out with cheap foam and it is glued between the acetate and top heart.  I added the Xs and Os to the top photo to the inside of the heart before stamping the "Have A Mice Day" and adhering it to the bottom heart.  The same adorable tiny hearts were glued to all three boxes.  

Suggestion:  Please review my tutorial, click HERE on cutting out intricate detailed dies such as the Lawn Fawn XOXO Background Portrait die.  For these kinds of dies with so many intricate cuts, I always use a Fabric Softener sheet when cutting out these kinds of dies.  These tiny pieces will stick to a new Fabric Softener sheet rather than in the die cut or die.  Poking out these tiny pieces is very time-consuming as well as frustrating if you don't get that perfect die cut.  The Fabric Softener sheet also add additional thickness for a deeper die cut along with these tiny pieces sticking to the Fabric Softener sheet.  Note that this technique can't be used on a Fabric Softener sheet that has been already used in a dryer.

The fabric softener sheet is on the left and noticed how these tiny discarded pieces are on the fabric softener sheet rather than stuck to the die cut or in the die.  You can reused these fabric softener sheet a few more times before throwing them away.
